We are delighted to be offering a new form of counselling – family systems therapy. Armed with their recently acquired qualifications, two of our most experienced counsellors, Sharon and Sarah, are excited to be working with families as a whole.

Family systems therapy helps individuals resolve their problems within the context of their family unit. The aim is to find ways for family members to help each other. In family therapy, a therapist works with families who are experiencing problems. The therapist explores their views and relationships to understand the problems they are having. It helps family members to improve communication with each other, and it can help families to change, develop and resolve conflict.

The therapy is usually accessed by a combination of family members or individuals, who present their family system.

Family therapy can help with a wide range of issues including:

  • Parenting issues
  • Child and adolescent behaviour
  • Divorce and separation
  • Adult mental health
  • Changes in family life
